The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners Chapter 2
What is it?
Skydance describes Chapter 2: Retribution as a standalone game and continuation of the original story. [1] The official descriptions place the player in the Tourist's story, hunted by the Axeman while confronting the Tower's latest push for dominance; they also identify new locations, weapons, gear and a final struggle for New Orleans. [2] PlayStation calls it an “action-survival VR game.” [3]
Official VR editions and delivery modes
- Standalone Meta Quest: Meta's store lists supported platforms as Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S. [4] This is the native Quest edition: it runs on the supported headset platform rather than requiring a computer. Meta's launch announcement specifically identified Quest 2 and Quest Pro and said the game had cross-buy with the Rift version. [5]
- PCVR: The Steam edition is marked “VR Only” and lists SteamVR support. Its official minimum is Windows 10, an Intel Core i5-4590+ or AMD Ryzen 5 1400+, 16 GB RAM, an NVIDIA RTX 2060+, and 55 GB available storage. [2] This is a PCVR edition streamed from a computer to a VR headset through SteamVR, not native standalone-headset software.
- Console VR: PlayStation identifies a PS5 version and says PlayStation VR2 is required, with PS VR2 Sense controllers required. The same official page also lists a PS4 edition and says the game is available on both PlayStation VR and PlayStation VR2. [3]
Officially listed features
The Steam listing identifies single-player play, tracked-controller support and VR-only operation. [2] Official descriptions also mention day-and-night exploration in New Orleans, missions and loot, the Exiles faction, and choices about helping or hindering others. [2] [3]
What carries over—and what does not
Meta describes Retribution as a standalone game that continues the Tourist's story immediately after the first chapter. You can start it without having completed the original, but Meta notes there are benefits to playing the first game first. If a first-game save is available, Meta's launch article says it can be imported so progress—especially collected crafting recipes and inventory—carries into Retribution. This is a practical distinction between story continuity and a hard save-file requirement: the developer calls it standalone, while the optional import rewards returning players. [5]
The launch article also gives context for the sequel's new loop: an Axeman hunts the Tourist as the Tower tries to consolidate power; new maps, weapons, recipes and enemy types expand the journey. Meta described a campaign of 15+ hours, Night Mode exploration on all maps, and a Trade Network system. Since that estimate and feature summary come from a 2022 launch post, they are presented as Meta's dated description, not a guarantee of exact playtime for every player or of later patch behavior. [5][1]
The storefronts identify separate Quest, PCVR and PlayStation VR editions. For example, Meta's blog said the Quest store offered cross-buy with Rift; that historical store policy does not mean the Steam or PlayStation versions are included. Check platform-specific ownership before relying on a cross-buy entitlement. [4][5][2][3]
