The Exorcist: Legion VR

Short answer: This is a single-player, investigation-led VR horror story: search unsettling locations, read clues, solve object-based mysteries and use ritual tools during exorcisms. It is sold under more than one name today, so check the platform listing before buying. Last checked October 11, 2026.

What you actually do

The PlayStation description calls the game a fully interactive, multi-chapter story that is “part investigation, part exorcism.” That is a useful expectation: this is not a conventional wave shooter. You progress by examining spaces, finding story clues and working out what to do with the objects around you, then face supernatural encounters where the exorcism tools matter. Meta describes the mix as action, mystery and puzzle-solving, with demonic entities, hidden artifacts and atmospheric locations. The official Meta listing also identifies the experience as Adventure, Narrative and Puzzle.

The original campaign is five named chapters: First Rites, Idle Hands, Skin Deep, Samaritan and The Tomb. PlayStation lists them as separate PS4 add-ons, while its Complete Series bundles access to the campaign. Steam describes the current Deluxe Complete Series as all six chapters because it includes the newer Epilogue. The publisher says the Epilogue is free for owners and unlocks after completing the existing five chapters. In practical terms, buy the complete edition (or all five chapters) if you want the full story; do not assume a single chapter purchase includes the later content.

The name and edition trap

The original PS4 listing is still named The Exorcist: Legion VR and requires the older PS VR headset and PS Camera. Current Meta Quest and Steam listings, plus the newer PS5 product, use Exorcism of the Legion (Last Rites). The PS4 and PS5 products are distinct console versions: Fun Train identifies the latter as PSVR2 on PS5, and its PlayStation Store entry requires PS VR2 and Sense controllers. Search by the platform’s exact product name and verify its included chapters; the title change does not establish shared entitlements or cross-buy. Steam specifically labels its product a complete collection and lists enhanced graphics and animations, upgraded movement controls, Index controller support, teleport and free-roam options. Steam also warns Quest owners to buy from the Meta store for the best experience rather than assuming every Quest control scheme is officially supported on PC.

Choose the right platform

Before you buy

Decide first whether you want native headset play, a Windows PCVR setup or console VR. Then confirm the exact store name, whether the listing includes all five original chapters and whether the Epilogue is included or a free update for that edition. For Steam, verify your PC against the published minimum and the headset/control note; for Quest, leave enough storage and clear a standing or roomscale play area. Horror intensity is part of the design: Meta lists Mature 17+ for blood and violence, and Steam describes extreme scares, violence and blood. Headphones, a safe boundary and the ability to pause between investigations are sensible practical precautions.
