Moss: Book II VR: editions, platforms and setup
Which VR editions exist?
| Edition | What the official listing confirms | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| Meta Quest | Meta lists Moss: Book II as a Quest experience. | A compatible Meta Quest headset and the Meta store; exact model availability is not stated on the page checked. |
| Steam | Steam lists “Moss II VR” as VR Only. Polyarc’s launch announcement names Index, Meta Rift, Meta Quest, Quest 2 with Quest Link, and HTC Vive. | A Windows PC, SteamVR and a PC-tethered VR headset or Quest Link setup. |
| PlayStation VR | PlayStation lists PS4 and PS5 editions. The PS5 version requires PlayStation VR2 and PS VR2 Sense controllers; the page describes sitting and standing play styles. | PS4/PlayStation VR for the PS4 edition, or PS5 plus PS VR2 for the PS5 edition. |
| Pico | Polyarc’s official platform selector links to a Pico store listing. | Use the Pico store listing for the headset and region-specific availability details. |
The developer’s Moss: Book II game page is the useful cross-platform starting point: it links the PlayStation, Steam, Meta Quest and Pico purchase destinations. Store availability and prices can vary by region and can change after this check.
Native Quest or PC VR?
The Meta listing is a Quest experience, so the Quest route is the standalone-store path rather than a Windows installation. Do not buy the Steam edition expecting it to install directly on a headset: Steam identifies its product as “VR Only,” and Polyarc describes that release as for PC-tethered VR headsets. Polyarc specifically says Quest and Quest 2 can play the Steam release with Quest Link. That means a Quest owner choosing Steam still needs a suitable Windows PC and a Link connection; it is PC VR streaming, not the native Quest app.
If you already own a PC VR headset, Steam is the edition with the clearest published computer requirements. If you want to play without a PC, start at the Meta Quest listing, not Steam. The Meta page checked does not enumerate compatible Quest models, so VRHow is not claiming support for a particular Quest generation beyond what that store page exposes.
PC requirements published by Steam
Steam publishes a minimum configuration for the PC edition: 64-bit Windows 10, an Intel Core i7-4790 or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X (or better), 8 GB RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 8GB or AMD RX Vega 56 8GB (or better). Steam also lists SteamVR under VR Support. These are the store’s minimums, not a VRHow performance guarantee; the official Steam page is the source to re-check before buying.
What you do in VR
This is not a generic “sit and look around” title. Polyarc describes Quill’s journey through the hexed castle of the Arcane, with dangerous terrain, puzzles and enemies. The official Steam feature description says the player can move objects, battle enemies and manipulate the field of play as Quill’s ally. It combines conventional action-adventure controls for Quill with a world that responds to the player’s touch. That makes the two-part viewpoint central to the game: you guide the mouse hero while also reaching into the environment to solve problems and help in combat.
The game is single-player on both the PlayStation listing and Steam. PlayStation lists offline play, one player, and sitting or standing VR play styles. Steam additionally lists tracked-controller support, Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud and Family Sharing. Those are platform features, not promises that every platform edition has the same options.
How to choose and install
- Choose standalone Quest if avoiding a PC is the priority. Open the official Meta listing from the headset or Meta store, confirm that it is available for your account and region, then install it there.
- Choose Steam if you already have a PC VR setup or want the named PC edition. Check the minimums above, install Steam and SteamVR, then connect the supported headset using its own wired or wireless PC-VR method. For Quest, follow Meta’s current Link instructions; remember that Link is the bridge to the PC version.
- Choose PlayStation by console. The official PlayStation page separates “Moss II VR” PS5 and PS4 editions. On PS5, budget for PS VR2 and its Sense controllers because they are marked required. Do not assume a PS4 purchase is the PS5 edition without checking the store’s edition details.
- Check Pico directly if that is your headset. Polyarc links to Pico, but the developer page does not provide a model-by-model compatibility list or universal regional terms.
VRHow has not independently tested performance, tracking, comfort or compatibility. The exact Quest model list, Pico requirements and any cross-buy or upgrade entitlement are unresolved in the official pages checked; verify those details in the store for your headset and account before purchase.
