Kayak VR: Mirage
Which VR version should you buy?
Steam is the PC VR route. The official Steam listing labels the game “VR Only,” requires SteamVR, and publishes Windows PC requirements. That means a Quest headset can be used only as a PCVR headset through a supported PC streaming or Link setup; it is not evidence of a native Quest app. The Steam page lists tracked-controller support, single-player, online co-op, and Steam Cloud, but it does not name a particular Quest model. Check Meta's current Link or Steam Link instructions for your headset and network before buying.
PlayStation is a PS5 + PSVR2 route. PlayStation lists the PS5 version as requiring PlayStation VR2 and PS VR2 Sense controllers. It supports sitting, standing, and roomscale play styles; the listing says a 2 m × 2 m play area is required for roomscale PSVR2 games. PlayStation also identifies vibration as optional for both the headset and Sense controllers. A PSVR1 headset is not listed for this product, so do not treat the PS5 listing as backward-compatible PSVR support. PlayStation's product page is the authoritative check for this console edition.
Viveport is another PCVR storefront. The developer links Viveport from its project page, and the official Viveport listing names VIVE, Oculus Rift, Oculus Rift S / Quest + Link, Valve Index, and Windows Mixed Reality among compatible devices. It describes the product as “Kayak VR: Mirage Complete Edition” and lists seated, standing, and room-scale play areas. This is still PCVR: the listing specifies Win10 64-bit and a PC graphics card, so “Quest + Link” does not mean native standalone Quest play.
What is included?
The base game is built around fully physics-based paddling. The developer describes free roam for relaxed exploration, time attack checkpoint courses for racing, wildlife, changing times of day and weather, unlockable kayak/paddle/headwear customization, comfort settings, and an optional controller-to-paddle setup using a stick or mount. It also offers a controller-free tour mode in which the kayak follows preset paths. Steam and PlayStation both list realtime multiplayer for two players, while asynchronous competition uses global leaderboards. PlayStation's listing says PS Plus is required for online play, supports up to two online players, and keeps online play optional.
On Steam, the base game and DLC are separate products. The official store lists a Soča Valley add-on with whitewater and a Yucatán add-on with whitewater. The Yucatán listing explicitly says it requires the base game and describes caves, cenotes, a flashlight, glowworms, collapsing tunnels, and stronger current. The developer's Viveport Complete Edition description includes both locations. On PlayStation, the official page enumerates the base game, Yucatán bundle, Soča Valley bundle, and Complete Edition; the latter includes the base game plus both locations. Confirm the storefront and edition before checkout because the bundle names differ slightly by platform.
Official PC requirements
Steam publishes these requirements for the PC VR edition:

These are the publisher's store requirements, not a guarantee for every headset, resolution, or wireless connection. The developer says the game is optimized across a range of PCs and supports AMD FidelityFX and DLSS on compatible NVIDIA RTX cards, but neither statement replaces checking your complete PCVR setup. VRHow has not independently tested performance or compatibility.
Install and choose safely
- Choose Steam/SteamVR, Viveport PCVR, or PS5/PSVR2 according to the hardware you already own.
- For Steam, compare your PC with the official requirements before installing; do not buy expecting a headset-only Quest download.
- For PS5, have PSVR2 and its Sense controllers ready. Select roomscale only if your play area meets the platform's stated requirement.
- Decide whether the base environments are enough or whether the Soča Valley, Yucatán, or Complete Edition bundle is better value for your platform.
- Start with free roam or tour mode and use the comfort settings if paddling or water motion feels uncomfortable.
Prices, availability, storefront bundles, and software menus can change. This page reports what the linked official listings documented on the checked date; it does not claim unlisted headsets, a native Quest build, cross-buy, or cross-platform ownership.
