Hard Bullet VR: which edition should you buy?

Short answer: Hard Bullet is available as a standalone Meta Quest game, a separate Steam PC VR game, and a PS5 game that requires PlayStation VR2. The editions share the same core physics-action idea, but the headset and installation path are different. Last checked October 11, 2026.

Edition and headset check

EditionWhat you needWhat the official listing confirms
Meta QuestMeta Quest Pro, Quest 3S or Quest 3Native standalone app; sitting, standing and roomscale; 8.62 GB; internet not required
SteamA PC running Steam and a PC VR headset setupSteam labels it “VR Only”; this is the PC edition, not a native Quest install
PS5 / PSVR2PS5, PlayStation VR2 and PS VR2 Sense controllersOne-player, offline play enabled; sitting, standing and roomscale

The Meta store is the clearest choice if you want to play without a gaming PC: it lists the app as supported on Quest Pro, Quest 3S and Quest 3, and gives a space requirement of 8.62 GB. Those are the Quest models explicitly named by Meta; do not assume support for another headset from the game’s general VR branding. The store also says an internet connection is not required, although you still need the store connection to obtain the app and updates. Meta’s listing

Steam is a different edition. The official publisher page calls Hard Bullet “VR Only,” and the Steam product is the Windows/Steam route rather than a Quest-native app. If you stream this edition to a Quest over Link, Air Link or Steam Link, the PC is still doing the game’s work: streaming does not turn the Steam license into the standalone Quest version. The Steam page is also the place to check the live store status and any current PC requirements before buying; this guide does not invent a headset or computer specification that the accessible official listing does not clearly publish. For a console setup, PlayStation’s official listing identifies a PS5 version released September 29, 2026. It requires PlayStation VR2 and PS VR2 Sense controllers, supports sitting, standing and roomscale play, and is marked for one player with offline play enabled. Roomscale play requires a minimum 2 m × 2 m area according to the listing. The page separately identifies optional headset vibration, controller vibration and trigger effects, so those are PSVR2-specific features rather than a promise about the Quest or Steam editions. What you actually do in Hard Bullet

This is a physics-driven action sandbox, not a conventional flat-screen shooter adapted to VR. The official descriptions list three long-standing pillars: RIDE sends you into runs against endless enemies and awards experience, money and unlockables; Sandbox lets you set custom rules and construct experiments; and Arena focuses on skill tests. The PS5 listing also names explorable districts in City Mode, so that mode is confirmed for the PSVR2 page, while the Steam and Quest listings prominently describe the other modes.

Combat is built around physical actions: disarming enemies, taking their weapons, one-handed reloads, leg kicks, punches, slow-motion jumps and dual-wielding. The official Steam description adds two gunplay styles. Tactical mode expects hand reloads, weapon-handguard support and recoil control; Arcade mode autoreloads guns when brought toward the waist, making dual-wielding easier. That distinction is useful when choosing the game: expect hands-on manipulation rather than a single universal control scheme. Steam’s official description

Sandbox is unusually tool-focused. The developer lists a welding tool for joining in-game objects, a custom ammo workshop that changes an object’s speed, size and rotation, enemy customization, and a spawner for objects and enemies. The Quest listing also confirms these workshop, generator and welding-machine ideas. The game contains frequent mature violence and gore; Steam says gore, blood and other violent aspects can be turned off in Settings, while the Meta listing is rated Mature 17+ and PlayStation labels the content Mature. Install and choose safely

  1. Choose the store that matches your hardware: Meta Quest for a PC-free standalone install, Steam for PC VR, or PlayStation Store for PS5 plus PSVR2.
  2. On Quest, check the named headset model and the 8.62 GB space requirement before installing. On PS5, have both the VR2 headset and Sense controllers; do not buy the PS5 version expecting flat-screen play.
  3. On Steam, verify the current PC requirements and headset path on the live product page. A Quest connected to a PC is only a streaming display for the Steam edition.
  4. Expect mature content. If you want less gore, check the Steam Settings option; the platform rating and content controls can differ by edition.

Official store pages confirm the editions and features above, but they do not establish cross-buy, cross-save, multiplayer, or performance parity between platforms. VRHow has not independently tested performance or compatibility.
