Dirt Rally 2.0 VR
Which VR edition should you buy?
There are two separately listed PC VR routes. The Meta product page labels the game “Link PC VR,” lists Rift and Rift S as supported platforms, and identifies Codemasters as developer and publisher. Its listing describes a sitting, front-facing experience with gamepad, tracked keyboard and mouse support. This is a PC application, not a Quest-store standalone app: the official page is under Meta's Link PC VR category and does not list Quest as a supported platform.
The Steam edition is also marked “VR Supported” and specifies “SteamVR or Oculus PC” in its system requirements. Steam's VR update announcement says the 1.7 update added OpenVR support to the Steam version and made the game available on Oculus and Steam. In practical terms, choose the store whose PC VR runtime and library you intend to use; do not assume that buying one store version automatically gives you the other.
What VR is—and is not—confirmed
The official VR record is PC-focused. The Meta listing confirms Rift and Rift S, plus a sitting/front-facing play mode. Steam confirms SteamVR or Oculus PC, but does not enumerate a current headset model list on the store page. The publisher's Steam update post explicitly says there were no plans to add PlayStation VR support. Therefore this page does not claim PSVR, PSVR2, a native Quest 2/3/3S build, Pico support, or a console VR mode.
Quest owners should treat PC streaming as a separate setup question, not as native Quest compatibility. A Quest connected to a suitable gaming PC may be able to act as a PC VR display through a supported Link or Steam Link workflow, but the Dirt Rally 2.0 sources checked here do not certify particular Quest models or guarantee performance. VRHow has not independently tested headset compatibility or frame-rate stability.
What you can do in VR
This is a rally simulation rather than a VR-only game. Steam describes a single-player Career Campaign, Events and Championships, online competition, Daily/Weekly/Monthly Challenges, worldwide leaderboards, vehicle tuning and team development. Its description also calls out six real-world rally locations—New Zealand, Argentina, Spain, Poland, Australia and the USA—and more than 50 historic and modern off-road cars. The VR update did not create a separate reduced game: it added the VR path to the existing driving game.
The official sources also document game-specific driving systems that matter in a headset: an authentic handling model, tyre choice, surface degradation, vehicle setup and wear. Meta's “Sitting” and “Front-facing” labels are useful expectations for cockpit play, but they do not establish motion-control support. The documented controller options are gamepad, tracked keyboard and mouse; a steering wheel is not listed by Meta's product page, so this guide does not promise a particular wheel or accessory.
PC requirements
Steam publishes the clearest numeric requirements. Minimum PC: 64-bit Windows 7, 8 or 10, an AMD FX4300 or Intel Core i3 2130, 8 GB RAM, AMD HD7750 or NVIDIA GTX650Ti graphics, DirectX 11, broadband internet and 100 GB of available storage. Recommended: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X or Intel Core i5 8600K, 8 GB RAM, AMD RX Vega 56 or NVIDIA GTX 1070, DirectX 11, broadband internet and 100 GB storage. Steam also lists the VR runtime as SteamVR or Oculus PC. These are the game's published PC requirements, not a guarantee of a particular headset's render resolution or a smooth frame rate.
Meta's PC VR listing gives a second, store-specific reference: recommended Ryzen 5 2600X or Core i5 8600K, RX Vega 56 or GTX 1070, 7.45 GB recommended memory and 99.59 GB space required. The small difference in memory and storage figures is a difference between store listings; use the Steam minimum/recommended table when checking a Steam purchase, and leave headroom for the PC VR runtime and updates.
Install and choice checklist
- Decide whether you want the Steam library/runtime or Meta's Link PC VR edition. The official pages describe them as separate PC storefront listings.
- Check your PC against the published Steam requirements, especially the GTX 1070/RX Vega 56 recommended GPU level and 100 GB storage.
- Install and update the chosen store's PC application and its VR runtime, then connect your supported PC VR headset before launching.
- Use a gamepad or another controller listed by the Meta edition. Start with sitting, front-facing play and adjust the in-game driving setup to your preference.
- If you own a Quest, verify the current Meta or Valve PC-connection path separately. Do not buy this expecting a native offline Quest install.
Service note: Steam currently warns that Racenet Clubs became unavailable after July 8, 2026 because the game's website was sunset. Steam says Time Trial, My Team Career and Quick Play Multiplayer remain playable; this does not change the game's VR platform support.
