What you can do
The official Meta listing names YouTube, local video playback from the headset, side-by-side and over-under 3D movie support, TV channels, and public or private social VR chat rooms. It also describes rooms for up to 30 people. Meta Quest: official feature description.
On Steam, Bigscreen's official description covers desktop sharing, video playback, premium 3D movie screenings, live events, customizable virtual screens, and multi-monitor desktop use. Those are features described by the official Steam edition listing, not a claim that a PCVR installation is native on a standalone headset. Steam: official Bigscreen Beta listing.
Verified platform access
- Native Meta Quest listing: Meta lists Bigscreen Beta for Meta Quest, Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3, Meta Quest 3S, and Meta Quest Pro. Official Meta platform details.
- PCVR edition: the official Steam listing is marked “VR Only,” is published by Bigscreen, Inc., and provides a SteamVR/Oculus PC VR support entry in its requirements. This is a PC/VR edition played through a computer, not proof of native Quest, Pico, or console VR play. Official Steam listing and requirements.
- Quest with a Windows PC: Bigscreen's official Remote Desktop page says to install its Windows client, then run Bigscreen on Quest so the PC desktop appears in VR. This is an optional connected/streaming-PC workflow in addition to the native Quest app. Official Bigscreen Remote Desktop instructions.
- Console VR: no official console VR listing was verified in the Meta Quest, Steam, and Bigscreen sources used for this page, so no PSVR or other console version is claimed.
Choosing between headset viewing and a PC desktop
Bigscreen has two different use cases that are easy to conflate. The Meta Quest listing describes features available in the headset app itself, including local video playback, YouTube, 3D video formats, TV channels, and public or private social rooms. The Steam listing instead describes a PC/VR edition with desktop sharing, customizable screens, multi-monitor use, and video playback. Start with the store entry for the device you intend to use rather than assuming the Steam feature list describes the native Quest installation. Meta Quest listing · Steam listing.
If the goal is to see a Windows desktop inside a Quest, Bigscreen's own Remote Desktop instructions describe installing its Windows client and then opening Bigscreen on Quest. That is a PC-to-headset remote-desktop workflow; it is not the same thing as running the Steam PCVR build natively on the headset. Conversely, someone who only wants the Quest app's listed local-video or social-room functions should not infer that they need the Steam edition. The official pages do not establish that every video service, file, or screen can be shared in every region or account configuration, so check the current app instructions for the feature you plan to use.
