Assetto Corsa Competizione VR

Short answer: Assetto Corsa Competizione (ACC) is a PC VR sim-racing game, not a native standalone Quest title. 505 Games officially lists Oculus Rift through its dedicated plug-in and HTC Vive through SteamVR; Steam lists SteamVR or Oculus PC support. The PS5 and Xbox console edition is not the VR edition. Last checked October 11, 2026.

Which edition supports VR?

Buy the PC version on Steam if VR is the deciding factor. Its official store listing marks the game “VR Supported” and specifies Oculus Rift (dedicated plug-in) and HTC Vive (SteamVR). The same listing names SteamVR or Oculus PC under VR Support. This is a PC installation that runs through a VR runtime: it is not an Android/Quest standalone build.

The official 505 Games console FAQ distinguishes the console version from the PC version and states that the console edition does not support VR. That means a PS5 or Xbox copy is not a route to PSVR2, Quest, or another headset mode. Do not assume that buying the console version and connecting a headset will add VR.

Quest owners should treat ACC as PC VR streamed to the headset, not as a native Quest app. The official ACC support record does not list a standalone Quest edition, and 505 Games says devices other than Oculus Rift and HTC Vive might work but are not officially supported. A Quest Link, Air Link, or Steam Link connection can be a PC-to-headset transport, but it does not change the purchased edition into a native Quest game; headset-specific compatibility and performance remain unverified here.

Official PC VR launch choices

Steam's official ACC launch-options announcement documents three choices: start normally (non-VR), start in Oculus VR mode without SteamVR, or start in SteamVR mode with SteamVR. Choose the runtime that matches your PC headset path:

These are launch choices for the Steam PC edition, not separate products. The older announcement also says to remove earlier -vr or -nohmd launch commands after the options update. If the menu offers a runtime choice, use it rather than stacking old launch arguments.

PC requirements to check before buying

Steam publishes one set of minimum requirements for the PC game and separately identifies VR support. Minimum is Windows 10 x64 20H2, an Intel Core i5-4460 or AMD FX-8120, 4 GB RAM, a GeForce GTX 750 4 GB or Radeon RX 460 4 GB, DirectX 11, and 50 GB of available storage. Steam lists “SteamVR or Oculus PC” and says a keyboard or gamepad is required for VR. Recommended is Windows 10 x64 21H2, an Intel Core i5-8600K or AMD Ryzen 5 2600X, 16 GB RAM, a GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB or Radeon RX 580 8 GB, DirectX 11, and 50 GB storage.

Those are the publisher/store's published game requirements, not a promise of a particular frame rate or headset experience. VRHow has not independently tested ACC performance or compatibility. The official support page also warns that devices outside Oculus Rift and HTC Vive may be compatible but are not officially supported, so do not interpret the Steam requirements as a guarantee for every modern headset.

What you actually do in VR

ACC is a serious GT World Challenge simulator rather than a room-scale hand-interaction game. KUNOS Simulazioni's official page describes laser-scanned tracks, modern GT cars, dynamic weather, 24-hour races, and both single-player and multiplayer racing. It lists Career, Championship, Free Play, and Open Series modes, with tutorials and progressive aids that let you adjust AI difficulty and vehicle stability control.

For controls, the official store says the game is compatible with peripherals ranging from gamepads to professional steering wheels. KUNOS says steering wheels, pedals, and other controllers have been tested with manufacturers and that each peripheral has customizable settings. A keyboard or gamepad is still required by Steam's VR requirements; a wheel is an optional, more sim-oriented choice rather than an unstated requirement.

Practical install and choice guide

  1. Choose the Steam PC edition, not the PS5/Xbox edition, if you need VR.
  2. Check the published CPU, GPU, RAM, OS, DirectX, and storage requirements above.
  3. Install the PC game through Steam and use the launch option for Oculus VR or SteamVR.
  4. For an officially named device, use Oculus Rift through the dedicated plug-in or HTC Vive through SteamVR. For other headsets, regard support as unverified rather than guaranteed.
  5. Start with Career, tutorials, or Free Play and configure the driving aids and peripheral controls before entering longer races.

This guide covers the exact ACC PC/console distinction supported by the sources above. It does not infer support for a headset, console VR mode, wireless streaming method, price, or performance that the official record does not explicitly confirm.
