Assetto Corsa in VR

Short answer: the original Assetto Corsa is a Windows PC racing simulator with VR support through SteamVR or Oculus PC. It is not documented by the official sources checked here as a native standalone Quest game. Last checked October 11, 2026.

Which Assetto Corsa is this?

This page covers the original Assetto Corsa (Steam app 244210), developed by Kunos Simulazioni and published by 505 Games. The developer's official franchise site identifies the 2014 game separately from Assetto Corsa Competizione, Assetto Corsa EVO and Assetto Corsa Rally.[1] That matters when shopping: Competizione is a different product, even though its Steam page also advertises VR support.[3]

VR edition and platform scope

The verified VR edition is the Steam PC release. Steam lists “VR Supported” and specifies SteamVR or Oculus PC under VR support; it also says a keyboard or gamepad is required.[2] In practical terms, this is PC VR: the game runs on Windows and the headset must be connected to a compatible PC VR runtime. A Quest used through a PC streaming or Link method is still playing the PC edition, not a native Quest installation. The official pages checked do not list a Quest-native store version, a PlayStation VR edition, or a standalone headset build, so do not buy it expecting those formats.

Official access and setup path

  1. Buy or install the original Assetto Corsa Steam app, not Assetto Corsa Competizione or another franchise title.[2]
  2. Prepare a Windows PC that meets at least the published minimum requirements below.
  3. Set up the PC VR runtime your headset uses: SteamVR or Oculus PC. Those are the two runtimes named by the game's official Steam listing.[2]
  4. Start the game from Steam with the headset and runtime available, then configure your input device. Steam's listing confirms keyboard and gamepad support and says the game is compatible with steering wheels and other driving hardware.[2]

The official material does not provide a headset-by-headset Quest Link/Air Link procedure or a current performance preset. VRHow has not independently tested compatibility, image quality or frame rate.

What you can do in VR

This is a full driving simulator rather than a VR-only showcase. The official listing documents Career, Special Events, Free Practice, AI races, Custom Championship, Online Multiplayer, HotLap, Time Attack, Drift and Drag Race modes.[2] It also documents laser-scanned circuits, licensed cars, advanced car setup management, in-game telemetry and adjustable time of day. Those features make a wheel-and-pedal setup a sensible choice, but the official listing also supports keyboard, joypad and joystick input, so a wheel is not the only documented control route.

For comfort and difficulty, the game lists four driving-assist profiles: Gamer, Racer, Pro and a fully customizable profile.[2] These are driving aids, not a promise of comfort options such as snap turning or subtitles. The official sources checked do not document a dedicated VR accessibility menu, controller remapping details, or motion-comfort settings; treat those items as unknown rather than assumed.

These are the numbers Steam publishes for the game, not a VRHow recommendation. Steam also notes that its client supports Windows 10 and later from January 1, 2024, so the old game listing's legacy Windows range should not be read as a guarantee that every older OS can currently run the Steam client.[2] No separate VR-specific GPU or headset-resolution requirement is published on that page.
