Another Fisherman's Tale VR: platforms and setup
Edition note: official Meta and PlayStation listings now call the game A Fisherman's Tale 2. Both say the content is unchanged, so this guide uses the original title, Another Fisherman's Tale, to distinguish it from the first game.
Which VR edition should you choose?
| Edition | What the official listing confirms | Choose it when |
|---|---|---|
| Meta Quest | Native Quest app; Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3 and Quest 3S; single-user; sitting, standing and roomscale | You want to play without a gaming PC or console |
| PS VR2 | PS5 version; PS VR2 and PS VR2 Sense controllers required; sitting, standing and roomscale | You already play VR on PS5 |
| PC VR | Vertigo lists SteamVR, Oculus and Viveport, and describes the launch as covering all PC VR platforms | You want the PC VR store and headset ecosystem you already use |
These are separate platform editions. Buying the Quest app is not the same as buying the PC version, and using Quest with a PC would be PC VR streaming rather than running the native Quest app. The publisher's official launch announcement confirms the three broad platform groups, while the current Meta listing supplies the specific Quest headset list.
What makes this game different in VR?
This is a story-led puzzle adventure in which the player's body is part of the puzzle. Vertigo Games and developer Innerspace describe three core mechanics: Detach limbs and hands and control them remotely; Replace limbs with objects such as a hook, crab claw or fish tail to gain abilities; and Control the environment with puppeteering hands to reach objects and tools. That is more specific than a generic “VR interaction” label: expect puzzles built around disassembly, unusual reach and swapping attachments.
The narrative follows Nina, daughter of the first game's protagonist, as she reconstructs Bob's memories from models, notes and photographs. The developer/publisher reveal describes a roughly 5–6 hour adventure across imaginative model worlds. Treat that as the publisher's stated scope, not a performance or completion guarantee. The official sources do not document multiplayer, so choose this as a single-player experience; Meta explicitly labels it “Single User.”
Comfort, play area and offline details
Meta lists Comfortable as the app's comfort level, says an internet connection is not required, and supports sitting, standing and roomscale play. It also lists 2.63 GB of space required for the Quest installation. Those are the useful pre-install checks for a standalone owner, though free storage can vary as headset software and updates change.
On PS VR2, PlayStation lists offline play, one player, sitting, standing and roomscale modes, with headset and controller vibration optional. PS VR2 Sense controllers and their trigger effect are required. PlayStation's safety text says roomscale PS VR2 games require a minimum 2 m × 2 m play area; make that space before selecting roomscale. PlayStation also warns that VR can cause motion sickness and says PS VR2 is not for children under 12. The official pages do not provide PC minimum or recommended specifications in the material checked here, so this page does not invent them.
Install and buy guidance
- Quest: open the official Meta listing, verify that your headset is one of the four listed models, and install the native app. A PC is not part of that access path.
- PS5: use the PlayStation listing and confirm you have a PS5, PS VR2 headset and PS VR2 Sense controllers. Clear a 2 m × 2 m area if you intend to use roomscale.
- PC VR: use the PC storefront you intend to play through. The publisher confirms SteamVR, Oculus and Viveport availability, but the sources checked here do not establish one universal headset list or PC specification; verify the selected store's current requirements before purchasing.
Accuracy note: VRHow has not independently tested performance, tracking or comfort on any headset. Platform support and feature statements above are limited to the official sources linked below; prices, availability and software requirements can change.
Questions
Is the Quest version native standalone VR?
Yes. Meta presents it as a Quest app and lists Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3 and Quest 3S as supported platforms. That is separate from streaming a PC VR copy to a Quest headset.
Does the PS5 version work without PS VR2?
No. PlayStation says PS VR2 is required for the PS5 version, and PS VR2 Sense controllers are required as well.
What is the current name on official stores?
Meta and PlayStation state that Another Fisherman's Tale was renamed A Fisherman's Tale 2 and that the content is unchanged.
