Affected: The Manor
What you actually do
The Manor puts you inside an abandoned, unsettling house and keeps the interaction deliberately spare. Meta describes simple controls and “zero puzzles”: there are no keys to hunt, objectives to solve, or puzzle systems to learn. Instead, you move through a directed horror walkthrough while the space, sound and timing do the work. The “zero puzzles” description distinguishes this directed haunted-house walkthrough from a puzzle-led campaign; it does not establish that the game is easy for newcomers or suitable for every player. It is listed as single-user and standing on Quest, with tracked controllers; Meta marks the comfort level as Intense, so clear the play area and take a break if the scares or headset discomfort build. Meta’s official listing also says an internet connection is not required.
Why “Complete Edition” matters
The Complete Edition includes the original Manor haunted-house experience, then adds two distinct ways to revisit it. The Gauntlet turns the route into a horror speedrun: finish as quickly as possible, with the store description tying performance to how much you scream, and compare times on global leaderboards. The Darkness changes the mood rather than adding a puzzle layer: unseen areas are navigated with only a flickering candle for light. The Steam listing also records new Oculus Achievements, inclusivity options, ten-language support, and a skin shader for avatar skin-tone personalization. The additions change the route in specific ways: The Gauntlet adds a timed run and leaderboard comparison, while The Darkness uses a candle to navigate unseen areas. The source listings do not establish total playtime or multiplayer support. (See the official Steam description.)
Platform boundaries
- Native Quest: Meta names Meta Quest, Quest 2, Quest 3S, Quest 3 and Quest Pro as supported platforms. Install the Quest listing directly on the headset; no gaming PC is required for that native form. Meta lists 1.68 GB of space, controllers, standing play and Intense comfort. Check the live listing before buying because store eligibility and edition details can change.
- PCVR: Steam labels the Complete Edition “VR Only” and lists SteamVR support, Windows 10, a standing-only setup, and minimum PC specifications of an i5, 2,024 MB RAM, GTX 970 and 1.2 GB storage. These are Steam’s stated minimums, not a promise of smooth performance. This version runs through a Windows computer and a SteamVR-compatible headset; it is not the native Quest app. Verify your headset’s current SteamVR connection method separately before purchase.
- Historical Vive evidence: HTC’s October 27, 2017 article says the original experience was then available on Viveport and remastered for HTC Vive. Treat that as historical availability, not proof that Viveport still sells it today. No official source here establishes a console-VR release, so do not assume PlayStation VR support.
Buying and setup checklist
Choose the storefront that matches where you will play: Meta for standalone Quest, Steam for PCVR. Confirm you are buying the Complete Edition, not relying on an old article or a retailer title. On Quest, reserve enough storage, use a safe standing boundary, and expect an intense comfort profile. On PC, confirm SteamVR launches with your headset, check the published Windows/CPU/GPU minimums, and test room scale or standing tracking before inviting someone new to play. Because the experience is designed around surprise, warn guests that it is horror and keep the controller hand clear. The official listings support tracked-controller/standing play; they do not establish a current console version or a cross-buy entitlement between Quest and Steam.
