How to improve PSVR2 comfort
Start with the fit, not extra pressure
Informational: Sony says PS VR2 is unstable when worn high on the head; the headband should sit close to your ears. Comfort and a clear image are linked: the headset is adjustable, but tightening it harder is not a substitute for positioning it correctly. Sony's fit instructions are the reference for the controls below.
Actionable fit steps
- Prepare the headset. Make sure the lenses are clean. Press the scope-adjustment button and pull the scope fully out. Press the rear headband-release button, slide the band over your head so it rests on the lower back of your head, then turn the adjustment dial clockwise until it is secure—not painfully tight.
- Bring the scope in gradually. Press the scope button and move the scope toward your face. Use one hand on the back of the headband and the other on the scope, as Sony recommends. Keep the headband low, separate hair that covers the lenses, and move the headset up, down, left or right until the view is clear.
- Center the lenses. Turn the lens-adjustment dial so your eyes sit in the middle of the lenses. On PS5, press the PS button, open the PlayStation VR2 card and choose Adjust Visibility; follow the on-screen prompts. Menu labels can vary after system-software updates.
- If you wear glasses, leave them on carefully. Sony says glasses can be worn with PSVR2, but take care when moving the scope: do not let the frames touch the lenses. If you cannot achieve a clear, comfortable fit without contact, stop rather than forcing the scope closer.
Reduce eye and face strain
Actionable on PS5: In Settings > Accessories > PlayStation VR2 > VR headset, use Adjust Lens Distance and VR Headset Position if you need to repeat the alignment. Sony also documents eye-tracking calibration during setup; follow the dot without moving your head. Eye tracking can improve the experience, but it does not repair an uncomfortable physical fit.
Informational: Sony's safety guidance says to take regular breaks and manage comfort to avoid strain and reduce injury risk. If use causes discomfort or strain, stop, remove the headset and rest. Do not try to “push through” symptoms; seek medical advice for persistent or severe symptoms.
Keep the contact surfaces clean and cool
- Disconnect the headset from the PS5 and turn the controller off before cleaning. Wipe surfaces and head supports with a soft, dry cloth.
- For lenses, use only a soft, dry cloth made specifically for cleaning lenses. Do not use paper towels, tissues, alcohol, thinner, benzine, chemical wipes or other volatile substances; water droplets or dirt can degrade the lenses. Do not open the headset.
- Keep vents free of dust; Sony says a handheld vacuum or similar product may be used. Do not block ventilation.
Make movement safer
Actionable: Clear furniture and trip hazards before playing. On PS5, use Settings > Accessories > PlayStation VR2 > Play Area to set the area and floor height; choose Boundary Display Sensitivity: High if you want boundaries to appear earlier. The headset's function button or PS VR2 quick settings can open see-through view so you can check your surroundings. On PC, use the PlayStation VR2 App's separate play-area workflow; do not assume PS5 menu paths exist there.
