VR stutter and dropped frames: how to fix them

Stutter means your PC cannot keep up with the refresh rate.

Steps

  1. Lower render scale first, in steps of 10%.
  2. Turn off anti-aliasing and lower shadows.
  3. Close the browser and game launchers.
  4. Make sure the game uses your dedicated GPU, not integrated graphics.
  5. Drop the refresh rate from 120 or 90 Hz to 72 Hz as a test.
  6. Update your GPU driver.
