PlayStation VR2 updates: latest verified status

Short answer: PS VR2 remains a PS5-first headset with an officially supported PC path. Sony’s latest dated PS VR2-specific article I could verify is a March 20, 2026 developer deep dive on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024’s planned free PS VR2 update. The article does not itself confirm that the update shipped. In the US store check, the headset was listed at $399 but marked “Currently Unavailable.” Last checked October 11, 2026.

Dated evidence

March 20, 2026 — Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 (confirmed plan, shipment not verified). PlayStation Blog reported that Asobo and Microsoft were developing a free PS VR2 update “launching early this year,” and described controller interaction, foveated rendering and frame-duplication work. This is an official development announcement, not evidence that the update was available by the checked date. PlayStation Blog, “Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024: a deep dive into PS VR2 mode” (March 20, 2026).
February 27, 2025 — price reduction and hand tracking (confirmed announcement). Sony set the recommended US price for PS VR2 and the Horizon bundle at $399.99, with regional timing and availability varying. The same announcement said a recent PS VR2 update added low-latency hand tracking for supported games; it did not give a version number or a universal game list. PlayStation Blog, “A great new price for PlayStation VR2” (February 27, 2025).
August 7, 2024 — PC adapter became available (confirmed). Sony launched the PS VR2 PC adapter at an estimated $59.99 / €59.99 / £49.99. PC play requires a DisplayPort 1.4 cable, Steam/SteamVR and a compatible Windows PC; HDR, eye tracking, headset feedback and adaptive triggers are not supported on PC. PlayStation Blog, “PlayStation VR2 players can access games on PC with adapter starting on August 7” (June 3, 2024; update August 7, 2024).
October 11, 2026 — US store status (observed listing). PlayStation Direct listed PS VR2 at $399 and the PC Adapter at $59, but both product entries were marked “Currently Unavailable” when checked. Store inventory is regional and can change; this is not a global stock conclusion. PlayStation Direct, “PlayStation VR2” (page checked October 11, 2026).

What this means

For a buyer, the verified choice is between a PS5 connection with the full console feature set and PC access through the adapter with documented feature limitations. Sony’s 2025 game preview confirmed Grit and Valor – 1949 for August 21, 2025 and listed Dreams of Another and Hotel Infinity for later that year, while Meteora was listed for 2026; those are dated announcements, not a current release calendar. PlayStation Blog, “Reveals and updates on upcoming PS VR2 titles” (June 24, 2025).

Verification gap: I found no later dated Sony page confirming that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024’s “early 2026” PS VR2 update shipped, and no newer official PS VR2 hardware revision or system-software release note that could be verified in this check. Rumors, forum posts and undated retailer availability were excluded.
