| Acer OJO 500 | Acer's August 2018 announcement identifies this as an Acer Windows Mixed Reality headset. It specifies two front-hinged 2.89-inch LCDs, 2,880 × 1,440 total resolution, up to 90 Hz, 100° FOV, mechanical IPD adjustment, inside-out tracking, six degrees of freedom, a 4 m cable, HDMI 2.0 and USB 3.0. The announcement says an optional configuration included two Bluetooth motion controllers; the Microsoft table also records integrated audio, a 3.5-mm jack and built-in Bluetooth. Model and regional distinctions
Do not treat “Acer WMR” as one undifferentiated specification. Microsoft lists the AH101 as a fall-2017 model and the OJO 500 as a fall-2018 model. The OJO 500's detachable lens/head-strap design, washable soft strap option and integrated sound-pipe audio are OJO 500 features described by Acer; they are not documented here as AH101 features. Conversely, Acer's support article's “AH100 and AH101” wording does not establish that AH100 is a separate retail revision, and no AH100-specific display or regional SKU record is supplied by that article. Used listings should therefore be checked for the exact label and included accessories rather than matched by the broad Acer name.
Acer's launch pricing is explicitly regional. For the OJO 500, Acer announced North American availability in November 2018 starting at $399 and EMEA availability in November starting at €499. Acer also warns that exact specifications, prices and availability vary by region. Those are historical launch statements, not a current price or proof of stock in 2026; this page does not infer present-day availability. No comparable official launch price is asserted here for AH101.
PC and Windows caveat
Acer's setup instructions require Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, a compatible system, HDMI and a USB 3.0 port; they point users to Microsoft's PC Check tool and caution that performance varies by setup. The article documents the setup flow for AH100/AH101, while the OJO 500 announcement says that model requires a compatible Windows PC. These are historical platform requirements, not a guarantee that a modern PC or current driver stack will work.
Microsoft's current removed-features notice says Windows Mixed Reality was removed in Windows 11 version 24H2, including Mixed Reality Portal, Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR and SteamVR Beta. Existing WMR devices can continue to work with Steam through November 2026 only when the user remains on the released Windows 11 version 23H2. After November 2026, Microsoft says WMR receives no security or non-security updates, bug fixes, technical support or online technical-content updates. That is a software-support boundary, not evidence that an AH101 or OJO 500 physically fails on a particular date. The archived Microsoft FAQ separately states the supported range as Windows 10 20H2 through Windows 11 23H2; readers should not interpret the old setup article as current support guidance.
