Best multiplayer VR games
This is a practical shortlist, not a star ranking. I included games whose official publisher, developer, or platform listing explicitly describes multiplayer and identifies a current VR release. The platform labels name the edition, not a universal headset-connection route. PC versions run on a computer; a standalone headset can use them only through a separately supported connection path. A title can support more than one mode, so read the platform line before buying.
Pick by the kind of session you want

Game-by-game guide
Walkabout Mini Golf
Best for: mixed-headset groups that want conversation and a game that is easy to explain. Mighty Coconut lists solo play, 1v1 online quick match and private rooms for up to eight people. It also links Quest/Rift, SteamVR, PSVR2 and Pico versions and says the game has full crossplay between platforms. The developer lists additional DLC courses and a Guest Pass for guests joining a host’s paid DLC course; check the current listing for base-game entitlements.
Platform and mode: Meta Quest (native headset), PCVR through the Rift/SteamVR versions, PSVR2 (console VR), and Pico (native headset). The official page lists crossplay across supported platforms. Crossplay does not establish identical DLC entitlements, feature availability or account requirements on every version.
- Official game page — multiplayer size, crossplay, versions and Guest Pass.
Demeo
Best for: a small group that likes tabletop tactics rather than twitch shooting. Resolution Games calls Demeo a cross-platform cooperative adventure for up to four players, built around strategy, teamwork and a tabletop-style fantasy campaign. That makes it a useful choice when everyone wants to make decisions together, but it is less suitable if your group wants a large lobby or a quick competitive round.
Platform and mode: Resolution Games links Demeo editions for Meta Quest, Pico, PSVR2 and Apple Vision Pro as well as PC storefront versions. PSVR2 is the console edition; use each linked store page for the exact supported headsets, PC VR requirements and mode rather than inferring them from the developer’s platform list.
- Official Demeo page — four-player co-op, cross-platform description and current platform links.
Beat Saber
Best for: short sessions where players want a clear objective and a little competition. Beat Games’ FAQ says a multiplayer match can include up to five people (one to four friends or random opponents), and that cross-play is possible between Meta Quest and Steam. The official FAQ also says the Quest and Rift versions are cross-buy within the Meta family.
Platform and mode: Meta Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S and Quest Pro are native headset play; Steam lists VR support for SteamVR or Oculus PC; this is the PC edition, distinct from the Quest store version. PlayStation players need a platform-specific caveat: Beat Games says multiplayer stopped being available on PS4 and PS5 on February 26, 2026, even though the game remains playable there.
- Official Beat Saber FAQ — player limit, Quest/Steam cross-play, Meta cross-buy and the PlayStation multiplayer change.
Among Us 3D — native Quest and PCVR crossplay
Best for: a 4–10-player social-deduction party built around tasks, sabotage, meetings and voice communication. Meta’s Quest listing confirms this is the distinct product Among Us 3D, not the original flat-screen Among Us; it explicitly says the products do not crossplay.
Platform and mode: Meta lists native Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S and Quest Pro support, with controllers, multiplayer and an internet connection required. The official Meta page says the Quest game crossplays with Among Us 3D PC players. Steam’s separate Among Us 3D: VR listing is a PCVR version, not a Quest-native app. Do not infer PSVR2 support.
- Meta Quest listing — native Quest support, 4–10 players, PC crossplay and incompatibility with the original game.
- Steam listing: Among Us 3D: VR — PCVR edition and PC requirements.
POPULATION: ONE
Best for: players who want squad-based competitive shooting and more than one multiplayer format. Meta describes it as a multiplayer VR first-person shooter and lists Battle Royale, Sandbox maps, Team Deathmatch, War (12v12), other rotating PvP/PvE modes, duos, hangouts and a co-op bot battle. Meta describes free-to-start access, rotating PvP/PvE modes, and optional in-game purchases; check the current listing for the exact item or mode you want.
Platform and mode: Meta Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S and Quest Pro, all native headset play. The Meta listing requires an internet connection and identifies both multiplayer and single-user modes. The linked Meta listing verifies this Quest edition; this entry does not make a claim about other platform versions.
- Official Meta Quest listing — free-to-play model, multiplayer modes, supported Quest headsets and internet requirement.
Gorilla Tag
Best for: friends who want an active online tag game with hand-and-arm locomotion. The Quest listing describes running, climbing and jumping as movement and lists multiplayer; it also notes internet use and optional in-game purchases. Treat it as its own online social game, not as a universal substitute for a private co-op room.
Platform and mode: the cited Meta edition is native Quest. The developer’s official site links separate Meta and Steam versions and publishes player conduct and reporting information. A Steam copy uses a PCVR setup, not a native Quest install.
- Meta Quest listing and Another Axiom’s official site — Quest version, online modes, and the developer’s conduct/support information.
VRChat
Best for: people choosing a social platform rather than one fixed game loop. VRChat’s official site describes thousands of worlds and markets millions of avatars, alongside user-created spaces, groups and events. It is the most open-ended option here: you can meet in a user-made environment, attend an event or find an activity, but the exact experience depends on the world and the people in it.
Platform and mode: native headset play is available without a PC on Meta Quest and Pico. On Steam or Viveport, the cited full-VR edition is a PC VR version; check the store requirements for its headset path. VRChat also supports desktop and mobile access, but those are not VR modes; do not confuse a friend joining from a phone or monitor with native headset VR.
- Official VRChat site — social features, user-created worlds and avatars, and native Quest/Pico versus PCVR platform distinctions.
Buying and setup checks
- Match the edition, not just the name. Among Us 3D: VR is the PCVR product; the similarly named flat-screen edition is separate. Beat Saber’s PlayStation multiplayer status also differs from its Quest/Steam status.
- Confirm the connection mode. The cited Meta Quest listings identify Quest editions and their supported models; verify the exact entry before purchase. A Steam listing identifies the PC edition and its listed VR requirements; it does not by itself establish Quest-native availability.
- Check the group size first. Walkabout’s private room is up to eight, Demeo is up to four, Beat Saber is up to five, and Among Us 3D: VR is 4–10. Large groups may need to split up in the smaller games.
- Check platform mix before buying DLC. Walkabout’s official page says full crossplay and describes a Guest Pass for DLC courses, but the base game and optional courses are still separate purchase decisions.
- For PCVR, check requirements on the official store page. This guide does not promise a frame rate or claim that every low-end PC will run a title smoothly.
Questions
What is the easiest multiplayer VR game to start with?
Walkabout Mini Golf is the clearest starting point for a mixed group because its official page lists private rooms, up to eight players and crossplay across Quest/Rift, SteamVR, PSVR2 and Pico. You still need the correct platform edition for each player.
Which games here work without a gaming PC?
Walkabout Mini Golf, Demeo, POPULATION: ONE and VRChat have official native standalone listings for at least one headset family. Beat Saber is native on Quest. Among Us 3D has a native Quest edition; the separate Steam edition is PCVR. Meta confirms crossplay between those Among Us 3D editions, not with the original Among Us.
Can a PSVR2 player join every game on this list?
No. Walkabout lists a PSVR2 version and crossplay. Demeo’s official page says PS5 and PS VR2 players have cross-play access. Beat Games says PlayStation multiplayer stopped in February 2026. The other entries are not presented here as current PSVR2 releases.
For two people, couples and mixed-device groups
A “couples” label does not identify a separate VR mode: the useful question is whether you want the same headset game together, a pass-and-play session, or an asymmetric game where only one person wears VR. Demeo is the small-team tabletop co-op choice in the main list; Walkabout Mini Golf can scale from a private two-person round to a larger room, and its developer says the supported platform versions cross-play.
Acron: Attack of the Squirrels! is a more unusual same-room option: Resolution Games describes one VR player defending a tree while one to eight iOS or Android players join as squirrels. The phone players are not using VR, so it suits a mixed-device group rather than a headset-only lobby. The developer’s Acron page documents the asymmetric setup.
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is another asymmetric choice for a pair or small group: one person handles the bomb in VR while other participants use the manual to communicate instructions. The developer’s remote-play guide describes voice communication and groups of two to four; confirm the specific VR edition and platform listing before buying.
Plan the group before choosing a game
- Count the players and check the lobby limit. The sources linked above give different limits: Walkabout private rooms up to eight, Demeo up to four, Beat Saber matches up to five, and Among Us 3D supports 4–10. Pick for the actual group rather than assuming every “multiplayer” game fits everyone.
- Compare platforms explicitly. Walkabout’s developer lists Quest/Rift, SteamVR, PSVR2 and Pico with crossplay; Among Us 3D’s Quest listing confirms crossplay with the PC version. Other games may have different platform boundaries.
- Decide how social you want the session to be. Private rooms and co-op campaigns offer a more directed session; public worlds and voice-enabled social games depend more on who else is present. Review the current privacy, moderation and voice settings in the official listing.
- Distinguish native headset play from streaming. A Quest-store version runs on Quest; a SteamVR/Oculus-PC version needs a PC connection; a PSVR2 release is console VR. Crossplay does not remove those setup requirements.
The guide groups multiplayer and “playing with friends” formats, including co-op and asymmetric examples, without claiming that all devices share the same mode or entitlement. Online services and crossplay can change; re-check the linked publisher pages before a group purchase.
