Pimax Crystal Super vs Bigscreen Beyond 2

Short answer: the Crystal Super is the more configurable, high-resolution PC VR platform: its optical engines reach 3840 × 3840 per eye, it supports inside-out SLAM or optional Lighthouse tracking, and it includes two controllers according to Pimax's store listing. The Beyond 2 is the much lighter 107 g headset, but it is a SteamVR setup that requires separately purchased base stations. These are different priorities, not a hands-on ranking. Price at check$1,599 sale price shown; the same store's configuration comparison lists QLED variants from $1,799 and 8K Micro-OLED from $2,199Starting from $959; add-ons and required base stations are extra
Availability at checkThe store page marks the displayed variants “sold out or unavailable”; country stock should be checked via Pimax's shipping-status pageOrder now; page says ships in 1–7 business days and shipping to 50+ countries

Prices and availability are time-sensitive observations at the stated check date, not guarantees. Pimax's $1,599 sale listing conflicts with its own comparison text showing QLED configurations from $1,799; verify the selected engine, stock, tax and shipping at checkout. A third-party comparison records Beyond 2 at $1,019, so that older/alternate figure is a conflict rather than a current price claim; see VRcompare.

Tradeoffs and suitability

Choose the Crystal Super when your criterion is display resolution, configurable field of view, or a choice between inside-out and Lighthouse tracking. The Pimax sources describe a modular QLED/Micro-OLED optical system, eye tracking and both Pimax Play and SteamVR/OpenXR routes. That flexibility comes with a more demanding listed PC target and a cable; the exact headset weight is unverified here.

Choose the Beyond 2 when your criterion is minimizing headset mass and using a compact SteamVR headset. Its official page lists 107 g, micro-OLED panels, adjustable per-eye IPD and a 116° diagonal FOV. The tradeoff is setup dependency: SteamVR base stations are required and sold separately, and the official requirements call for a DisplayPort 1.4 PC. Base Beyond 2 eye tracking and controller inclusion are unverified, so do not assume the Beyond 2e's eye tracking applies to the base model.

For a broad “PC VR” comparison, the representative facts here are limited to the manufacturers' stated Windows, GPU, RAM, DisplayPort and SteamVR/OpenXR requirements; actual performance depends on the application, render resolution and settings. This page does not assign scores or claim hands-on comfort.

Questions

Which has the wider view?

It depends on the Crystal Super optical engine. Pimax lists 106° horizontal for 57 PPD, 127° for 50 PPD and 140° for Ultrawide; Bigscreen lists 108° horizontal and 116° diagonal. Pimax's separate overview and older Q&A give conflicting 50 PPD figures, so that configuration is not one settled number.

Can either headset work without base stations?

Pimax says Crystal Super has inside-out SLAM and that its optional Lighthouse faceplate supports base stations. Bigscreen says Beyond 2 requires SteamVR Base Stations 1.0 or 2.0. Those are official product requirements, not a test result.

Do the prices include the complete setup?

No complete-system total is verified here. Pimax's displayed headset price conflicts with its own configuration table, and Beyond 2's $959 starting price excludes the separately required base stations; taxes, shipping, selected accessories and any controllers can change the total.
