Meta Quest 3 vs Bigscreen Beyond 2

Short answer: choose Quest 3 for a wireless all-in-one headset with built-in Touch controllers, hand tracking and optional PC VR. Choose Beyond 2 for a much lighter, higher-resolution-per-eye SteamVR headset when you already have (or want to build) a capable Windows PC and external tracking. These are different product types, so the comparison is about the stated criteria—not a hands-on ranking. Last checked October 11, 2026.

Tradeoffs and which fits whom

Pick Quest 3 if you want the simpler starting point: it is a wireless all-in-one device, includes Touch Plus controllers, supports hand tracking, and can also connect to a Windows PC through Link or Air Link. Its listed 4 MP color passthrough and depth sensor make it the clearly documented choice here for mixed-reality use. A compatible PC is still needed for PC VR, and Meta's minimum Link requirements are lower than Beyond 2's listed 16 GB / RTX 2070-or-RX-5700-XT baseline.

Pick Beyond 2 if your priority is the display and low headset-only mass, and you accept a tethered setup. Its 2560 × 2560-per-eye micro-OLED panels, 107 g headset-only weight and adjustable per-eye IPD are documented by Bigscreen, but the headset needs a Windows PC, SteamVR base station(s), DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC and USB 3.0. Controllers are not bundled; Bigscreen says they can be skipped for uses such as simulation, but hand-driven applications need them.

Cost and ecosystem: the checked headline prices differ by $359.01 before any Beyond 2 base station, controller, or optional facial-interface/strap costs. Quest 3 gives access to its standalone Horizon OS mode as well as PC VR; Beyond 2 is a SteamVR peripheral and does not replace the computer or tracking hardware. This is a platform/setup tradeoff, not a claim that one library is universally better.
