Meta Quest 3: specs, current price and PC VR support

Short answer: Meta Quest 3 is a standalone mixed-reality headset with a Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 platform, pancake optics and two 2,064 × 2,208-pixel displays. Meta's U.S. store listed the 512GB model at $599.99 when checked on October 11, 2026. Its original launch also included a 128GB model; that historical configuration and price are not the current U.S. store listing.

What the specifications mean in use

Quest 3 can run supported Quest apps on the headset or connect to a Windows PC for PC VR. Those are different modes: the standalone library uses the headset's mobile hardware, while Link and Air Link depend on the host PC and connection. Check Meta's current Windows PC requirements for Meta Horizon Link before buying for a particular PC game.

For mixed reality, the headset shows a colour camera view of the room so virtual items can appear alongside physical surroundings. Meta's 2023 announcement describes the resolution and the pancake-lens design, but does not establish a universal comfort or visual-quality result for every face, prescription or room. Try the fit if possible, especially if you wear glasses.

The Quest 3 is the sharper-display, pancake-lens model in Meta's current Quest 3/3S comparison. Quest 3S uses Fresnel lenses and a lower per-eye resolution while sharing the newer Quest platform generation. See the Quest 3S profile and Quest 3 vs Quest 3S comparison for the distinctions and sources.

Connecting Quest 3 to a PC

Meta describes two ways to use Horizon Link: a USB-C cable connection or Air Link over Wi-Fi. For cable use, Meta specifies a high-quality data-and-power cable at least 3 metres (10 feet) long for a comfortable setup. Air Link needs a Wi-Fi network; Meta recommends 5GHz. Wireless performance depends on the home network and environment, so a feature label alone does not guarantee a smooth session.
